Every weekend, John collects a trio of new releases to help you get lifted. This week we’ve got a remix from NxWorries, and fresh tracks from Wu-Tang Clan, Future and Young Thug.
NxWorries – Best One (Remix)
The pairing of Knxwledge and Anderson Paak served the deliciously soulful Yes Lawd a year ago (literally can’t believe it’s been that long), and to keep our waiting palates full, they’re providing Yes Lawd Remixes on November 17. The first single from that is a rework of “Best One”, and Knxwledge has added some dust, a thick beat, and some beautiful strings for a more romantic feeling. Turn this on over wine and some nice pasta.
Wu-Tang – Hood Go Bang!
Still an old school answer to mainstream hip hop, Wu-Tang returned this week with The Saga Continues, a fantastic showcase for producer Mathematics. Just one highlight is the trunk-shaking “Hood Go Bang!”, which packs a ton into its 92 second runtime. The highlight? Redman and Method Man, trading verses once again as a tag team.
Future, Young Thug – Patek Water (feat. Offset)
It’s a shock to me too, but Migos has more to offer airwaves than Quavo. The surprise mixtape SUPER SLIMEY from Future and Young Thug doesn’t meet its billing across 40 minutes, but it gets a decent bounce on “Patek Water” when Offset shows up. All three MC’s sound energized on the posse cut, with the best bars coming from Migos’ finest.
