The transition from Chet Faker is complete.

Nick Murphy started his career with soulful electronic pop, performing and releasing music under the name Chet Faker, a nod to iconic jazz musician Chet Baker.

Having dropped the moniker last year, he’s been slowly making the transition to a newer sound, under his birth name, Nicky Murphy. Over the last year, the producer has released a few singles, Stop Me (Stop You), Fear Less, and even collaborated with producer Bonobo on his most recent release, Migration. His brand new EP, Missing Link, marks the final transition to his new persona and bridges the gap between Faker and Murphy seamlessly.

His sensual and silky smooth voice is still there, along with the percussion and intimate lyrics, but it sounds like a rediscovery. Experimental and entirely new, we can’t wait to see how this sound translates to a live show. And we’re in luck, because right after dropping Missing Link, the Aussie artist announced a North American tour, kicking off next week.

Listen to the 5-song EP below (featuring a stunning collab with Montreal producer KAYTRANADA), pre-order the vinyl here, and check out the full list of tour dates to see when he hits your city.
