During the holidays, cinema can be a welcome escape. So naturally, we’ve compiled our list of the most memorable stoner moments on film, just for you.

Over the holidays, while crammed into old childhood bedrooms, downsized retired-parent-houses, hotels, motels, or stranded lonely in an airport or on a loveless island of desperation and despair – cinema can be a wonderful escape. For you, dear Weedbox reader, we have compiled a list of the most memorable reefer-centric scenes in film history for you to inhale.

The Big Lebowski (Coen, 1998)

The genius of the Coen brothers shines in this scene that is volatile, a callback to earlier in the film, and pivotal to the plot.

Cheech and Chong Up In Smoke (Adler, 1978)

These OG stoner comics have a hilarious meet-cute involving what is still the most famous joint in film history.

Caddyshack (Ramis, 1980)

This scene in which Ty has to “play through” is a comic acting battle between masters Chevy Chase and Bill Murray.

A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas (Strauss-Schulson, 2011)

This film is presented in very tasteful 3-D in which everything from smoke rings, to trees, to ping pong balls, to NPH fly through the air for our festive amusement.

Dazed & Confused (Linklater, 1993)

A rite of teenage passage for this film’s young hero is punctuated by the effortless cool of Matthew McConaughey’s delivery.

Super Troopers (Chandrasekhar, 2001)

The first scene of this film introduces the anarchic world of Broken Lizard in which the cops are cooler than the stoners.

Half Baked (Brennan, 1998)

The comedy writing juggernaut of Chappelle & Brennan structure this hilarious scene to be riddled with punchlines, not the least of which is “HE HAD SEX WITH MY MAMA! WHYYYYY!”

Pineapple Express (Gordon Green, 1998)

This scene, from a film riddled with weed jokes and over the top comedy, showcases the understated glory of Danny McBride.

The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou (Anderson, 2004)

There are many excellent points in this film where Bill Murray’s titular Zissou lights up, but his little dance in the following clip is probably the stoniest.
