A typical ask of ‘What are your plans for the holidays?’ tends to be met with a generic response of predictable travel plans, family to-do’s and endless lists of parties. And though this is all well and good and understandable, the holiday time-off marks an opp for those of us with a knack for both cannabis and travel, to plan our itineraries all that more intentionally.

And so, to get you in that green state of mind, we spoke to Cary Tauben, Fashion Stylist and Creative Consultant, and Leafly Ambassador, for his tips on the top three places on his hit list (see what we did there?)

Seattle, WA

“In a city where recreational cannabis use is legal, Seattle is a must visit. Not only is Cannabis available all over the city, but the options are endless! There is something for everyone here. Do a dispensary tour and sample some of Washington’s finest cannabis. Edibles, pre-rolls, different strains, you name it!” says Tauben.

Reno, NV

“Passing by Reno on route to Burning Man this past September, I was delighted to find out from my taxi driver that Reno had legal dispensaries. I immediately pulled up my Leafly app and did research on which ones were credited. The ones we hit up had a beautiful curated selection of pre-rolls, strains, as well as edible gummies and vape pens with cannabis oil. Perfect set-up for Burning Man,” says Tauben.

Montreal, QC

“Although Canada and Montreal cannabis use is not 100% legal yet, it’s definitely part of the culture here. Where else can you go to a park (Mont Royal Statue park to be exact) on a Sunday to smoke cannabis recreationally. We call this Tam Tams! I tend to not travel with any cannabis accessories when traveling between Canada and the US or Europe. I travel so much that it would be a liability to even get caught with rolling papers, vapes, or grinders. So my advice is to always be very careful when you’re travelling with accessories,” says Tauben.

If you’re new to somewhere, Leafly is a great resource to give you the inside scoop on just how ‘cannabis-friendly’ somewhere is. It will tell you where to go and what you can get, even if you’re just passing through.
