Is your favourite in here?

For those of you who didn’t get to travel to Indio, California and witness the performances at Coachella in person, the festival’s live YouTube stream was likely the next best thing (and honestly, getting to experience the music from the comfort of your own home without any of the sweat, dirt, and crowds was pretty epic). Now that both weekends have come and gone, we’ve compiled our five favourite performance videos from their YouTube channel below, for your viewing (and listening) pleasure. Enjoy!

1. The xx – On Hold

The xx have truly come to be one of our favourite live acts, continually evolving their stage game since they first burst onto the scene in 2009. And On Hold, one of the standout tracks from their latest album, I See You, translates perfectly to a live setting. From producer Jamie xx’s mesmerizing instrumental solo at the beginning, to the dreamy quality of Romy and Oli’s back and forth once they take the stage, this clip is incredible, and definitely one to watch.

2. Lorde – Ribs

To say we’re excited for the New Zealand singer’s new album, Melodrama, is quite an understatement. Due out June 16, we’ve already been treated to two singles from the album, Green Light and Liability. Lorde also performed a brand new, never-before-heard track from the record during her Coachella performance, Homemade Dynamite.

All that being said – we’re a sucker for familiarity, and Ribs is one of our all time favourite tracks – from any artist – so watch her slay this Pure Heroine track about growing up, above.

3. Glass Animals – Life Itself

Glass Animals have always been fucking infectious on stage. Their musical influences range from tropical beats to driving drums and dripping beats – which translate into a mesmerizing, mind-bending, and compelling live experience.

This track, from their most recent effort, gets the crowd swaying in no time and is a fitting soundtrack to the backdrop of palm trees and desert air.

4. Future Islands – Seasons (Waiting on You)

Watching Future Islands perform this song live seriously never gets old. I mean, who can forget the time they shut it down on Letterman? Legendary. Lead singer Samuel T. Herring’s passion for performing live and leaving it all on the stage is truly epic. Check out the sweaty (but flawless) performance above.

5. Bonobo – Migration

Watching Bonobo perform live is truly a sight to see. The UK native (and recent LA transplant) performed his indie-electronic, synth-heavy tracks accompanied by a live band, including guitars, drums, and a horn quartet – which added a layer to his tracks that we weren’t expecting.

Playing Coachella’s main stage, his chill vibes helped ease the crowd into the early evening. Watch him perform his recent single, Migration, above.
