The Compton emcee is back with some new original material.

Yesterday, Kendrick Lamar sent fans into a frenzy when he posted the artwork from the above single on his otherwise empty Instagram. The uncaptioned photo, ‘IV’, left the internet wondering if it could be the announcement for his new album – which would be his fourth studio effort.

Turns out, the Compton emcee was teasing the latest instalment of ‘The Heart’, an ongoing series spanning his discography, with the first instalment being released in April of 2010, the second in September of 2010, the third in October of 2012, and now the fourth, March 24, 2017.

The track is Kendrick’s first original music of 2017, samples artist Khalid‘s voice for the beat, and makes references to Drake, Big Sean, Donald Trump, and the over $30 mill the rapper has made thus far.

The track ends with the line, “Y’all got ‘til April the 7th to get y’all shit together,” hinting at a possible release date for his upcoming album.
